Jessica Rothka drove in Courtney Maimone with winning run in the fourth inning for Bentworth in a 2-1 victory over McGuffey in a Class 2A Section 3 game on Thursday.

Maimone walked to start the inning, stole second base and score on Rothka’s hit for the Bearcats (3-4, 6-7). Bentworth scored in the bottom of the first when Emily Snyder knocked in Savannah Adams with a single. Adams reached base on an error. Winning pitcher Leah Lindley struck out 12.

Carmichaels 12, Uniontown 0: Kylie Sinn did not allow a hit over seven innings of Carmichaels’ 12-0 victory over Uniontown in a non-section game.

Sinn struck out seven and walked one for the Mikes (9-3). Sinn also doubled and had a potential home run pulled back on a nice catch by the outfielder.

Uniontown fell to 0-7.

Canon-McMillan 11, Upper St. Clair 3: Canon-McMillan scored in every inning but one to rout Upper St. Clair, 11-3 in a Section 1 game in Class 6A.

Elsenheimer’s home run gave Waynesburg (2-3, 5-4) a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning and the Raiders tacked on four more scores in the fifth.

That was more than enough offensive support for Braun, who struck out six and did not walk a batter.
