Wild Things walloped by Miners
The Southern Illinois Miners scored eight runs in the second inning to put away the Washington Wild Things, 8-3, Thursday in a Frontier League game.
Southern Illinois scored the eight runs on seven hits. Gianfranco Wawoe singled in two runs and Stephen Lohr scored twice as the Miners batted around in the inning.
The top three hitters in the lineup – Saige Jenco, Cody Erickson and Mikael Mogues – had an RBI for Washington. Ryan Cox went 2-for-3 and scored. Michael Austin allowed eight runs, all earned, in 1 2/3 innings.
