Wild Things double up Windy City
CRESTWOOD, Ill. — Cody Erickson drove in three runs, and Ryan Cox scored two runs and drove in two others, as the Wild Things defeated the Windy City ThunderBolts 10-5 Friday night.
Washington has won five of its last six games.
The Wild Things built a 7-0 lead in the fourth inning before Windy City began chipping away at its deficit and closed to within 9-5 after scoring three times in the seventh inning.
Erickson drove in an insurance run for Washington in the eighth with a sacrifice fly that scored Hector Roa, who had tripled.
The Wild Things had 12 hits in the game, including eight that went for extra bases. Roa, Cameron Baranek and Cox each had a triple. Blake Adams and Chase Slone each hit two doubles. Shaine Hughes also doubled.
Eric Morell (1-0) gave up two runs over six innings for his first win with Washington. Washington turned three double plays.
