Taillon roughed up by Twins

Tyler Austin homered and singled and Jorge Polanco had an RBI double for Minnesota in a 10-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Tuesday.

Jameson Taillon, set to pitch on opening day for Pittsburgh, made his first spring training start and allowed three runs and five hits in four innings.

Lefthander Stephen Gonsalves worked three-plus innings for the Twins, allowing two runs.

Outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. hit a bases-clearing triple as part of a five-run ninth inning that broke the game open.

Meanwhile, in a minor-league game, Pirates right fielder Gregory Polanco went 1 for 4 with a walk in five plate appearances.

The Pirates are off Wednesday.
