Wild Things blanked by River City
O’FALLON, MO. – Kameron Esthay got River City off to a good start by driving in four runs – all in the first two innings – as the Rascals rolled to a 9-0 win over the Wild Things on Saturday night at CarShield Field.
Esthay hit a two-run double in the first inning and a two-run homer in the second as River City forged a quick 6-0 lead. The Rascals scored three more runs in the fifth, two coming on a two-run homer by Braxton Martinez.
All nine runs were charged to Washington starter Ty Mondile (0-1).
The Wild Things were held to five hits. Blake Adams had two hits, including a double.
River City starter Alec Byrd (1-0) gave up three hits over five innings. He was followed by Travis McQueen, who completed the shutout with four innings of relief for a save.
