W&J’s LaRochelle honored

Washington & Jefferson College junior Rae LaRochelle was recognized as an All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Second Team selection, as the organization announced its Division III Awards and All-ECAC selections in women’s lacrosse for the 2019 season.

LaRochelle picked up Second Team honors after a record-setting offensive season. The junior registered a new personal-record and new program-record with 71 goals. She added 24 assists to tally a new program-high standard with 93 points. LaRochelle ranked second among PAC players in league contests in goals (42) and points (58). The junior added 49 draw controls, 39 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers in 2019.

Earlier this month, the junior attacker received First Team all-conference recognition for the third time in her career. LaRochelle will enter her senior season with 188 goals and 240 points in her career.

Cal’s Robblee

All-American

California University senior Taylor Robblee was recently selected a Division II Conference Commissioners Association Second-Team All-American at utility/pitcher.

Robblee earned All-America honors for the second time this week, becoming a consensus All-American as she received National Fastpitch Coaches Association First-Team All-America status on Wednesday night. Cal U has now featured seven consensus All-Americans since the 2013 campaign.

A dynamic two-way player, Robblee was the team leader in virtually every hitting and pitching category this spring. She set career highs in almost every category while starting all 36 games at four different positions in the field (18 pitcher, nine second base, six second base, two third base), plus one start at designated player.

Robblee ranked second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and finished sixth in the Atlantic Region with a 1.75 ERA. She earned 10 of the team’s 14 victories this season and finished with a 10-7 record in 20 appearances. Robblee eclipsed 100 innings pitched for the first time in her career, finishing with 108.0 innings behind 11 complete games and three shutouts. The 5-foot-4 senior also paced the team with 77 strikeouts and limited opponents to a .235 batting average.

A native of Ontario, Robblee finished third in the league and among the top 15 in the Atlantic Region with a .765 slugging percentage. She belted nine homers in 102 at-bats this spring after entering the year with 11 homers in over 300 career at-bats. Robblee led the team with a .382 batting average, which was 40 points higher than her previous career best set as a freshman. She also recorded a .458 on-base percentage while also drawing 14 walks hitting No. 2 in the lineup all season.
