In the NBA

Terence Davis hasn’t forgotten about being passed over for a spot in the Rising Stars Challenge at All-Star weekend. Even so, the Toronto Raptors rookie is just happy he’s playing for a contender.

Davis came off the bench to score a career-high 31 points and the Raptors tied a team record with their 11th straight win, beating the Chicago Bulls 129-102.

  • James Harden had 40 points and came an assist shy of a triple-double to lead the Houston Rockets to a 117-109 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Rookie sensation Zion Williamson had 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Pelicans, whose three-game winning streak was snapped.

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo had 30 points and 19 rebounds, and the Milwaukee Bucks rebounded yet again by beating the Phoenix Suns 129-108 Sunday – two days after a loss to Denver.

In college basketball

Omer Yurtseven’s layup with 10.2 seconds completed a rally from a 17-point second-half deficit and Georgetown beat St. John’s 73-72 on Sunday.

Yurtseven put in a short left-handed hook to get the Hoyas within a point with 50 seconds remaining before the Red Storm’s Rasheem Dunn failed to hit the rim on a drive and tip, resulting in a shot-clock violation. After a timeout, Jagan Mosely got the ball inside to Yurtseven for the layup.

Dunn took the inbounds and raced down the side but lost control of the ball and the Hoyas ran out the clock. Dunn’s turnover was the 12th for the Red Storm after none in the first half.

  • Luka Garza is 6-foot-11 and can hit 3-pointers.

That foiled Illinois’ defensive plan against the Iowa junior center.

Garza, the Big Ten’s leading scorer, bounced back from a slow start to score 25 points and No. 18 Iowa clamped down in the final four minutes to beat No. 19 Illinois 72-65 on Sunday.

Garza, who added 10 rebounds for his 13th double-double of the season, didn’t have a point in the first 15 minutes. He wound up making four 3-pointers on nine attempts, both career highs, and shot 9 of 16 overall.

In the NHL

Pierre-Luc Dubois scored twice and added an assist to lift the Columbus Blue Jackets over the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 Sunday.

Vladislav Gavrikov and Gustav Nyquist also scored as Columbus swept the season series. The Blue Jackets have picked up at least a point in eight straight games.

  • For the second time in four games since returning from an extended offseason, Justin Williams scored the winning goal in a shootout on Sunday as he lifted the Carolina Hurricanes to a 4-3 decision over the Vancouver Canucks.

Williams wristed a shot inside the post to the right of Thatcher Demko, giving the Hurricanes a 2-1 edge in the shootout. Carolina goalie James Reimer then used his left pad to stop Bo Horvat to clinch the win.
