North Allegheny holds off Canon-McMillan comeback

CANONSBURG — Andrew Gavlike scored three touchdowns and rushed for 102 yards to help North Allegheny drop Canon-McMillan, 35-21 in a Class 6A Tri-County Five game Friday night.

North Allegheny (1-0, 2-0) took advantage of 7 C-M penalties in the first half to build a 27-7 halftime lead.

But Mike Evans threw a late 8-yard touchdown pass for Treyvon Mullen and two to Austyn Winkleblech from 28 yards and again from 32 yards.

Gavlik scored from one yard out to put the game away.

Evans completed 16 of 43 passes for 197 yards and the three TDs for C-M (0-1, 0-2).
