Wild Things swept by Tri-City in DH
TROY, N.Y. – The Wild Things lost more games Sunday afternoon than they did in the first nine days of the Frontier League season.
Washington was swept in a doubleheader by the Tri-City ValleyCats, 4-0 and 9-5, at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.
The losses leave Washington with a 6-3 record.
Tri-City second baseman Trey Hair hit two home runs, driving in four, and Rafi Vasquez (1-0) pitched a three-hit shutout in the opener. Vasquez walked only one batter and struck out eight.
The ValleyCats used an eight-run fourth inning to erase a 3-1 deficit and win the nightcap.
Washington’s Melvin Novoa homered, doubled and drove in two in the second game. Anthony Brocato also had two RBI.
Zach Biermann homered for Tri-City.
Washington starter Spencer Johnston (1-1) threw a complete game in the opener. He allowed six hits and struck out six. Greg Loukinen (2-1) took the loss in the second game.
The Wild Things will open a six-game homestand Tuesday (7:05 p.m.) against the Florence Y’alls.
