California moves closer to conference crown

CARMICHAELS — California moved one step closer to the Class A Tri-County South Conference title in a 58-13 victory over Carmichaels on Friday night.

The Trojans improved to 5-0 in conference play and 7-1 overall. They host Beth-Center (3-2, 3-5) next week and close the regular season at Bentworth (1-4, 2-6).

Spencer Petrucci and Jake Layhue each scored two touchdowns for California, who built up a 24-0 lead after the first quarter. 

Ambrose Adamson caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from A.J. Donaldson and Malachi Peak scored on a two-yard run for the Mikes (1-4, 2-6).
