Waynesburg earns 1st victory of season
Waynesburg didn’t let the rain, or Saint Vincent, stop them in a 24-0 victory Saturday afternoon at John F. Wiley Stadium in Presidents’ Athletic Conference play.
The Yellow Jackets (1-5, 1-5) earned their first victory of the season on “Alumni Day.”
Isaac Trout scored the only points Waynesburg would need after pulling in a 13-yard reception from Samuel Barber at 6:35 of the first quarter. Rico Sastoque made the first of three extra points for a 7-0 lead.
Sastoque increased the home team’s advantage to 10-0 with 17 seconds left in the second quarter after booting a 45-yard field goal.
Justin Flack caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Barber in the third quarter and ran five yards into the end zone with 2:22 left in the fourth quarter.
Flack rushed for 125 yards on 26 carries. Barber was 17 of 26 for 207 yards. Charleroi graduate Dakota Romantino caught eight passes for 132 yards to pace Waynesburg’s wide receivers.
Saint Vincent fell to 2-4 in conference play and overall.
