McGuffey gives South Park the boot
SOUTH PARK — Dylan Stewart booted three field goals and McGuffey pulled away with two third-quarter touchdowns as the Highlanders defeated South Park 31-14 in a non-conference game Friday night.
Stewart made kicks of 23 and 27 yards in the first half and added a 37-yarder in the fourth quarter as McGuffey improved to 7-2 overall.
The Highlanders’ defense held South Park (6-3) in check for most of the game. McGuffey led 6-0 at halftime, 21-7 after three quarter and 31-7 in the fourth quarter.
Stewart’s two field goals were the only points in the first half, but Charles Wagers scored on a five-yard burst midway through the third quater. On the enuing kickoff, South Park fumbled and McGuffey recovered. The turnover set up fullback Dylan Droboj’s five-yard TD run that made it 21-0.
Connor Crowe added a seven-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter and Stewart kicked his third field goal to make the score 31-7.
