Trinity returns 3 INTs for scores in 61-21 win
Trinity returned three interceptions for touchdowns in the first quarter and had a kickoff return for a score in a 61-21 victory over Ringgold in Class 4A Big Seven Conference play Friday night at Hiller Field.
The Hillers (4-2, 6-4) finished in a tie for second place in the conference and have qualified for the WPIAL playoffs.
Caden Vogel, Dante DeRubbo and Nico Mauro returned three straight interceptions into scores as Trinity built up a 26-0 lead in the first quarter.
Ringgold’s Daryl Tolliver scored on a six-yard run and Cody Scheponik made the first of three extra points, but the Hillers’ Luke Lackock returned the ensuing kickoff 93 yards into the end zone for a 33-7 advantage after Andy Palm made the third of seven PATs.
Andrew Durig capped the scored in the first quarter on a 34-yard run. Lacock caught touchdown passes from Jonah Williamson of 8 and 28 yards, and Aaron Beard closed the first-half scoring on a 57-yard run. Williamson opened the scoring on a 41-yard run.
Tolliver scored his second rushing touchdown on a 22-yard jaunt into the end zone in the third quarter and caught a touchdown pass from Matt Behanna for the Rams’ final score.
