Layhue scores 4 TDs as California wins conference opener
JEFFERSON — Quarterback Jake Layhue had four touchdowns runs, Spencer Petrucci added two scores and California won its Class A Tri-County South Conference opener over Jefferson-Morgan, 48-21, on Friday night at Parker Field.
Layhue scored on runs of one, three, three and 10 yards as the Trojans improved to 1-0 in the conference and 3-1 overall.
Petrucci had touchdown jaunts of 34 and seven yards.
Jefferson-Morgan’s Houston Guesman had a 24-yard touchdown run and tossed a scoring pass of 35 yards to Deakyn Dehoet. Guesman completed 10 of 14 passes for 103 yards.
Jaymison Robertson returned a kickoff 65 yards for a score for the Rockets (0-1, 1-3).
