Cornell late TD, conversion edges Burgettstown

CORAOPOLIS — C.J. Jackson threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Khylil Johnson late in the fourth quarter and undefeated Cornell converted the ensuing two-point conversion to beat Burgettstown 14-13 in a Class A Black Hills Conference game Friday.
The 14-13 lead was the only one Cornell (3-0, 6-0) had the entire game. After a scoreless first half, Burgettstown (1-2, 2-3) took leads of 6-0 in the the third quarter and 13-6 in the fourth.
The Blue Devils opened the scoring with a 19-yard TD pass from Brodie Kuzior to Zach Schrockman. The extra-point attempt was no good.
Cornell tied the score on the first play of the fourth quarter, a one-yard plunge by Jackson, but the Raiders also missed the extra point, leaving the score knotted at 6-6.
Burgettstown again went ahead when Kuzior rambled 18 yards for a touchdown. Colton County’s extra-point kick put the Blue Devils up 13-6. Kuzior rushed for 109 yards on 24 carries.
