Wehner’s 5 TD passes sink Canon-Mac
PITTSBURGH — Peyton Wehner completed 15 of 19 passes for 365 yards and five touchdowns as undefeated Central Catholic rolled to a 49-6 win over Canon-McMillan in a Class 6A Tri-County Five Conference game Friday night at Carnegie Mellon.
Central Catholic, which has five Division I recruits, remained undefeated at 3-0 in the conference and 6-0 overall.
Canon-McMillan (1-2, 4-2) scored first, getting a 15-yard TD run by Zach Welsh in the first quarter. Welsh rushed for 101 yards on 17 carries.
Wehner then took over. He fired three touchdown passes to Pete Gonzalez, covering 59, 46 and 83 yards. Gonzalez caught seven passes for 268 yards.
Wehner also connected with Jacob Sassic on a 43-yard scoring strike and Cole Sullivan for a 14-yard TD.
