Waynesburg graduate Marissa Kalsey cleared her first two heights in the pole-vault competition Sunday in the U.S. Track & Field Summer Olympics at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field in Eugene, but she wasn’t able to reach the podium and finished in 13th place.

Kalsey, who vaulted at Westminster in college, cleared 4.28 and 4.43 meters, but missed her three attempts at 4.63 meters to bow out of the competition.

Kalsey had a personal-best jump of 4.50 in the qualifying round on Friday.

Kalsey wasn’t the only vaulter from a WPIAL school, as Hempfield graduate won the event with a vault of 4.73. The Greensburg native will head to Paris towards the end of the month to compete for Olympic gold.
