This time, it’s all Avella, 49-0

MAPLETOWN – Chas Rush ran for two touchdowns and passed for another, and Avella avenged a loss in the season-opener to Mapletown by beating the Maples 49-0 Friday night in a Class A Tri-County South Conference game.

Mapletown defeated Avella 20-6 on the same field — a non-conference game — to start the year but this time it was all Eagles.

Rush ran for 115 yards and completed all five of his passes for 88 yards. He scored on runs of 15 and one yards and threw a 40-yard scoring strike to Bryce Wright. Rush also tossed a two-point conversion pass.

Avella (2-2, 3-4) held Mapletown (0-4, 1-6) to 34 total yards and two first downs.
