High School Basketball: Canon-Mac and Char-Houston girls improve to 4-0

Izzy Bobitski scored 15 points to help Canon-McMillan improve to 4-0 on the season in a 53-30 win over Franklin Regional at the Moon tournament Saturday afternoon.

Faye Saunders and Brooke Stanton added 11 points apiece for the Big Macs, who limited Franklin Regional (1-2) to single digits in three of the four quarters.

Chartiers-Houston 48 Brownsville 30

Ava Kolovich had 12 points and was named the Brownsville tournament MVP in a 48-30 win over the host Falcons (1-1).

Ali Wingard added 11 points for the Bucs, who improved to 4-0 with the win.

Ava Clark scored 11 points for Brownsville.

Peters Township 64, Pine-Richland 41

Peters Township (2-1) got off to a hot start and cruised to a 64-41 win over Pine-Richland (0-3).

The Indians led the Rams 22-7 at the end of the first quarter. Bri Morreale led the way with 22 points. Taylor McCullough chipped in 18 points and Maddyn Mehl scored 11.

Zoe Cook paced the Rams with 14 points.

Charleroi 49, Monessen 17

Eden Smith led the way with 17 points as Charleroi (3-1) earned a 49-17 win over Monessen (0-2) at the Fort Cherry Tournament.

Briella Wells added 11 points for the Cougars, who led 34-5 at halftime.

Madison Johnson scored six points for the Greyhounds.

Mt. Pleasant 31, Ringgold 9

Ryleigh Drzal had 10 points to lead Mt. Pleasant (2-1) to a 31-9 win over Ringgold (1-2) at the Greensburg Salem Tournament.

McKeesport 56, Washington 43

Dannah Sebelia led three McKeesport players in double figures with 22 points in a 56-43 win over Washington (1-1).

Sunny Harper added 19 points for the Tigers (3-1) and Emily Eisenberg scored 10.

Olivia Woods had 21 points for the Prexies.

Winchester Thurston 58, Fort Cherry 41

Jasmine Hollins scored 23 points to help Winchester Thurston (4-1) take down tournament host Fort Cherry, 58-41.

Aleah Cooper contributed 21 points for the Bears and DaShae Cochran scored 13.

Alison Litman led the Rangers (1-2) with 14 points and Brooke Cornali added 13 points.

Riverview 67, California 50

Isabel Chaparro poured in 44 points to propel Riverview (2-1) to a 67-50 win over California (0-3) at the Aquinas Academy tournament.

Hayley Gibson scored 21 for California.

Uniontown 48, Bentworth 24

Aierra Jenkins had 27 points to lead Uniontown (1-1) to a 48-24 win over Bentworth (0-2) at the Brownsville tournament.

Boys Results

Belle Vernon 87, Bethel Park 69

Elijah Majors, Dane Daugherty and Cam Jenko scored 18 points each and Belle Vernon used a second half rally to down Bethel Park 87-69 at the Upper St. Clair Tournament.

The Leopards (2-2) erased a 50-36 halftime deficit with a 30-5 run in the third quarter. Curty Wade added 13 points for Belle Vernon.

Joe Parisi had 23 points for Bethel Park (0-3) and Owen Turoski scored 21.

Peters Township 64, Northgate 41

Dylan Donovan had a game-high 22 points to pace tournament host Peters Township (3-0) in a 64-41 win over Northgate (0-2).

Desmond Williams had 19 points for the Flames and Jaivon Hardison scored 12.

Pine-Richland 54, South Fayette 42

A poor second quarter doomed South Fayette in a 54-42 loss to Pine-Richland in the consolation game of the Mike Rettger Tournament at Franklin Regional.

The Lions led 16-13 after one quarter, but managed only two points in the second and trailed 29-18 at halftime.

Grant Spacciapolli led Pine-Richland (1-1) with 16 points. Will Scanlon and Braden Plasko scored 11 each for the Lions (0-3).

Winchester Thurston 58, Fort Cherry 36

Fort Cherry (1-1) kept pace with Winchester Thurston (3-1) for a quarter, but the Bears eventually pulled away for a 58-36 win, beating the host Rangers at their tournament.

Mike Hammerling had 21 points for the Bears. Connor Vansickle scored 11 for the Rangers, who led 15-14 at the end of the first quarter, but were held to single digits in each of the final three quarters.
