W&J beats Geneva to clinch PAC title
BEAVER FALLS – For the 28th time Washington and Jefferson is the Presidents’ Athletic Conference champion in football.
The Presidents (7-0, 7-2) locked up the PAC title with a 49-7 win over Geneva (5-2, 5-4) Saturday at Reeves Field in Beaver Falls.
They also clinched a spot in the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Kellen Stahl continued to shine at quarterback for W&J throwing for a career-high six touchdowns and had 384 yards passing.
Jacob Macosko and John Perduzzi caught three touchdown passes each and both went over 160 yards receiving.
Defensively the Presidents were equally impressive, shutting down Geneva’s offense that averaged 40.8 points per game.
W&J registered seven sacks and had three interceptions, limiting the Golden Tornadoes to a season-low seven points. Geneva had minus-21 rushing yards.
Sam Coleman had two interceptions for the Presidents.
Kobe Derosa opened the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Stahl connected with Macosko once and Peduzzi twice on touchdowns in the second quarter, the last one coming with 12 seconds remaining to give W&J a 28-0 lead at halftime.
Stahl threw two more touchdown passes to Macosko in the third quarter and had one more to Peduzzi sandwiched in between them.
The Presidents host Thiel in the regular season finale next Saturday.
