High School Wrestling: Trinity cruises past South Fayette
Trinity won all but one weight class with eight pins on its way to a 67-5 victory over South Fayette in a Class 3A Section 2 match at Hiller Hall on Wednesday night.
Dominick Canali (133), Luke Poland (152), Collin Pettigrew (160), Behr Bruckner (172), Teagan Barr (189) Ian Holub (215) and Edrick Wiliams (heavyweight) all won via a pin for the Hillers.
Parker Jennings (107) and Jackson Hoy (114) picked up victories on tech falls and Jacob Wright (139) won a high-scoring 16-10 decision against Peter Leventis.
Brock Dennison (145) won by tech fall for South Fayette’s lone victory.
Beth-Center 72, Frazier 6
Mason Wright (133 pounds), Evan Miller (160) and Noah Layhue (215) won by fall and Beth-Center received seven forfeits in a 72-6 shellacking of Frazier in a Class 2A Section 3 match.
The win sets up a crucial match next week for the Bulldogs against Jefferson-Morgan.
Jonah Erdely had a pin for Frazier. There were only four bouts contested in the match.
Jefferson-Morgan 60, Brownsville 4
Jefferson-Morgan, powered by five pins, rolled over Brownsville 60-4 in a Class 2A Section 3 match.
The win keeps the Rockets on a collision course with Beth-Center for the section lead next week.
Against Brownsville, J-M won the first six weight classes and only a major decision at 145 pounds by Brownsville’s Kody Gates prevented J-M from posting a shutout.
Caleb Dulaney (114), Connor Pinchok (127), Ej Lingenfield (139), Alek Palko (172) and heavyweight Landon Heath each won their bouts by fall for Jefferson-Morgan.
McGuffey 60, Washington 11
Victor Bonus (152), Aaron Supler (172) and Kash Main (189) had a pin apiece for McGuffey in a 50-11 win over Wash High in Class 2A Section 1.
The Highlanders got a couple of wins via close decisions. Lane Ealy (133) earned a 3-1 decision over Noah Patton and Garrett Newman slipped past Jahvon Woods 5-4 in the 160-pound match.
Caleb Patton won by tech fall for Wash High.
Chartiers-Houston 43, West Greene 30
John Dove (121) Kamden Stamm (127), Peyton Garove (139), Caleb Tewell (145) and Tyler Clayton (215) had a pin each in a 43-30 victory at West Greene in Class 2A Section 1.
West Greene got pins from Noah Collins (133), Reece Tharp (189) and Colin Whyte (heavyweight).
