ERIE – Jordyn Buchanan sank three free throws after being fouled with two seconds remaining for what proved to be the winning points as California stunned No. 5 Gannon with an 80-79 win in the PSAC Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship Sunday.

It was only the second loss of the season for Gannon (28-2). With the win, the Vulcans (21-8) locked up their first PSAC tournament title since 2008 and an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II tournament.

The NCAA Division II tournament bracket was revealed at 11 p.m. Sunday, which was past the deadline for this edition.

Buchanan made five free throws in the final 41 seconds and finished with a team-best 17 points. He got the Vulcans within one point after Pace Prosser hit a three to give Gannon a 78-75 lead with 59 seconds remaining.

The entire second half was played within seven points and the game featured eight lead changes.

Cal trailed by seven after Layne Sarver canned a three-pointer with 5:43 remaining. The Vulcans responded with a 12-5 run and tied the game at 73-73 on a Brayden Reynolds layup.

Gannon’s Lucas Sekasi and Cal’s Dalman Alexander traded baskets before Prosser’s three. Prior to Buchanan’s game-winning free throws, Mackenzie Morgan went 1 for 2 from the line for the Knights.

Gannon led 42-35 at halftime, but Cal limited them to 37.1 percent from the field and 8-for-33 from beyond the arc. Cal, meanwhile, shot 51.9 percent from the field.

Keondre DeShields had 13 points off the bench for the Vulcans. Reynolds scored 12. Bryson Lucas and Antoine Arnett added 11 points apiece and Joshua Ray scored 10. Lucas was named tournament MVP.

Prosser led Gannon with a game-high 24 points. Morgan scored 19 and Sekasi finished with 14.
