High school baseball: Wash High beats Canevin with big comeback
Washington scored 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally for a 16-11 baseball win over Bishop Canevin on Saturday.
Isaac Charnak drove in five runs and was the winning pitcher in relief. Jayden Hagan tripled and drove in three runs, Caleb Patton doubled and scored four runs and Zander Henderson added a double.
The Prexies trailed 8-1 in the fifth inning.
Trinity 8, Karns City 1: Trinity scored in each of the first six innings and defeated Karns City 8-1 on Saturday in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Aaron Harshman allowed one hit and struck out seven over four innings of relief. Starter Karson Hathaway also struck out seven.
Tim Clayton hit two doubles for the Hillers, Owen Samogala drove in two runs and Landon Conn had three hits.
Atlantic Collegiate Academy 13, Trinity 3: Trinity settled for a split on the day as Atlantic Collegiate Academy scored seven runs in the third inning and beat the Hillers, 13-3.
Trinity was held to three hits.
Severn School 4, Trinity 1: Severan School scored four runs in the first inning and held on to beat Trinity 4-1 in a well-pitched game Sunday.
Colt Wanner struck out eight over six innings as Trinity was held to three hits.
Two Trinity pitchers held Severn to four hits. Garrett Stoy threw shutout innings of relief.
Jase Hartley and Ben Koskoski each had a triple for the HIllers.
Burgettstown 5, Clayton 1: Matthew Bredel and Jayden Roach combined on a four-hitter as Burgettstown defeated Clayton, N.J., 5-1, on Saturday in Myrtle Beach.
Bredel struck out seven over four innings and Blake Neal drove in two runs for Burgettstown. Caleb Matalik hit a double.
St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes 20, Jefferson-Morgan 16: Jefferson-Morgan’s Brayden Ellsowrth had four hits and drove in five runs but the Rockets lost a wild 20-16 game to St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes in Myrtle Beach.
J-M led 7-5 in the second inning and was tied 11-1 in the fifth.
North Catholic 123, Chartiers-Houston 0: Two North Catholic pitchers combined on a no-hitter as the Trojans defeated Chartiers-Houston, 12-0.
Maret 13, Burgettstown 3: Grant King hit a three-run homer in the second inning and Maret (D.C.) defeated Burgettstown 13-3 in six innings on Sunday.
Burgettstown was held to five hits, including two by Owen Snyder.
