High School roundup: Tedrow twirls no-hitter in Waynesburg victory

Gina Tedrow pitched a six-inning no-hitter to lead Waynesburg softball to an 8-0 win over Coventry Monday afternoon at the Ripken Experience in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

Tedrow had 13 strikeouts and two walks.

Eva Pester and Ellie Makel had three hits and drove in two runs each for the Raiders. Makel had the lone extra-base hit in the game, a double in the sixth inning.

Waynesburg scored twice in the second, three times in the fourth and single runs in the third, fifth and sixth.

Chartiers-Houston 13, Serra Catholic 0: Chartiers-Houston continued its hot start to the season by dispatching Serra Catholic, 13-0, in five innings. The Bucs (4-0) belted 13 hits and took advantage of four errors by Serra Catholic. Sophia Robinson had three doubles and drove in two runs. Aubree Randolph, Brooklyn Hess and Kiera Drilak contributed one double apiece and Seanna Riggle tripled.

Taryne Drilak pitched a four-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks to earn the win.

Morgantown 9, Carmichaels 3: Four errors by Carmichaels led to five unearned runs in a 9-3 loss at Morgantown.

Morgantown led 2-0 after four innings, but broke the game open with four runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth.

Ke’Lani Chun singled twice and had an RBI for the Mikes, who managed only four hits off Morgantown starter Madison Wisman.

Wisman struck out 13 batters and allowed one earned run in a complete game in the circle.

Baseball

Serra Catholic 15, Monessen 0: Defending WPIAL champion Serra Catholic plated 10 runs in the first inning on its way to a 15-0 victory over Monessen in three innings in a Class A Section 3 game. The Greyhounds did not record a hit and its lone base runner was a walk by leadoff hitter Christian Scherer.

Jake Anderson went 2-of-2 with a double and drove in four runs for the Eagles. Serra Catholic drew 13 walks.

Boys volleyball

Jacob Lent had 15 kills and 11 digs to lead Trinity (1-1) to a 3-0 sweep of Bethel Park (1-1) in a boys volleyball game Monday night.

The Hillers won 25-20, 25-15, 25-13.

Bryce Bailes contributed 36 assists. Raleigh Flickinger added 10 kills and Brady Anderson finished with nine kills.

Girls lacrosse

Peters Township topped Plum 14-12 in a nonsection girls lacrosse game on Monday. Senior Dana Anderson and sophomore Abby Yates scored four goals each for the Indians.
