LEECHBURG – A big third quarter helped Monessen stop Leechburg’s bid for an upset and its first win of the season.

The Greyhounds (5-2) scored three touchdowns in the third to erase a six-point halftime deficit and earn a 32-21 win in a nonconference game Friday.

Leechburg (0-7) led 13-6 at halftime, but Monessen quarterback Kaier Payne threw two touchdown passes in the third quarter and a key blocked punt sparked the Greyhounds.

Tracen Suber caught the first touchdown, a 57-yarder and Lamont Cullen hauled in a 23-yard score.

Then, Ke’zjere Butler scooped up a blocked punt and returned it 17 yards for a touchdown.

Rudely Destyl gave the Greyhounds an insurance marker in the fourth quarter by finding the end zone from six yards out.
