Wash High rolls past California
CALIFORNIA – When Washington made the move down to Class 1A, more than one football fan thought it was a good move.
So far, so good.
Washington stretched its record to 3-0 with a 50-6 drubbing of California in a Friday night football game at Trojan Stadium.
Wash High used its two-prong attack of a solid running game and effective passing attack. Wash High’s defense had three interceptions, one that was returned 80 yards for a touchdown.
Ameer Nelson started the scoring, going over from 20 yards out in the first quarter. Three minutes later, Patton picked off a Brandon Meier pass and returned it 80 yards for the Prexies’ second score of the game. Jamarie Walker then went over from 7 yards out to make it 20-0 as the extra point was no good.
Walker would score again midway through the second quarter to make the score 28-0 as JaQuay Heyman caught the two-point conversion.
Travon Moye had a strong first half. completing 6 of 10 for 73 yards.
Walker rushed six times for 43 yards.
Brandon Meier’s 9-yard run with 8:18 to play avoided the shutout for Cal.
