California cruises past Carmichaels in TCS opener
COAL CENTER – Brandon Meier passed for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns and ran in another as California (1-0, 2-2) cruised to a 46-8 win over Carmichaels (0-1, 1-3) in the Class A Tri-County South opener Friday.
Meier threw a 13-yard touchdown to Brayden Crocket, connected with Weston Monticelli on a 23-yard score, and had another score on a 3-yard run.
Alan Dennis scored California’s first two touchdowns on runs of 3 and 47 yards. Dennis finished with 100 yards on nine carries.
Monticelli added a five-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, which made the score 40-0 at halftime. California was successful on five two-point conversion tries.
Job Smith broke the shutout for Carmichaels with a 24-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, which was followed with a succcessful two-point try on a pass from Peyton Morecraft to K.C. Shook.
