Yellow Jackets win third straight in men’s basketball
Waynesburg University earned its third straight victory in defeating Carlow, 68-55, on Saturday at Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
Waynesburg improved to 3-4 this season while Carlow fell to 1-6.
The Yellow Jackets used a 13-0 run in the first half to take a 37-25 lead at halftime.
Carlow scored the final five points of the contest and had a 30-29 edge in the second half.
Antone Baker Waynesburg in scoring with 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Teammate Jalen Goins added 14 points.
PJ Suggs added 10 points and five rebounds.
The Yellow Jackets had a 36-32 advantage in rebounds.
Wheeling 89, California 83: The Vulcans lost their third straight game in an overtime setback at Wheeling.
California had a 44-41 lead at halftime before the Cardinals outscored the Vulcans, 36-33, in the second half to force overtime. Wheeling had a 12-6 advantage in overtime.
California’s Kadyn Hannah scored 17 points on five field goals, including three 3-pointers, and was 4 of 4 at the foul line. Teammate Eli Brooks came off the bench to score 16 points.
Jordyn Buchanan added 14 points for the Vulcans. Keondre DeShields was in double digits with 12 points.
Wheeling’s Sean Ealy had a game-high 30 points on eight field goals (3 three-pointers) and was 11 of 11 at the foul line. S.J. Hutchinson had 19 points for the Cardinals.
William Gabbert (14) and Jerry Saunders Jr. (12) were in double figures for Wheeling.
