Plasko leads W&J past Geneva

Freshman Michael Plasko scored 13 of his team-high 18 points in the first half and Washington & Jefferson went on to an 85-69 victory over visiting Geneva in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Tuesday night.
The win improves W&J’s record to 5-1 in the PAC and 6-2 overall. Geneva slips to 2-3, 2-6.
Plasko, a South Fayette product, made six of nine shots and was four-for-five from three-point range. He led four W&J players in double figures. Quinton Burlenski followed with 14 points, Nathan Plotner had 11 and Alex Acosta tossed in 10 and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
W&J shot 55 percent in the first half, which ended with the Presidents leading 43-34.
Geneva’s Ryna Rachic had game-highs of 21 points and 11 rebounds.

Washington & Jefferson 82, Geneva 69
Meghan Dryburgh had a double-double and led five Washington & Jefferson players in double figures with 18 points in an 82-69 victory over Geneva in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference game at Salvitti Family Gymnasium.
W&J (6-0, 8-1) extended its winning streak to six games. The Presidents scored the game’s first 10 points and never trailed. W&J led 43-33 at halftime and outscored Geneva 28-10 in the third quarter to open a commanding 71-43 lead.
Dryburgh had 12 rebounds and six assists to go with her 18 points. Bryn Bezjak followed with 13 points, Jordyn Wolfe scored 11 of her 12 points in the first half, and Stellanie Loutsion scored 12 and Katie Kovalchick had 10.
Mackenzie Barricklow and Alexandra Cozzens each had 15 points for Geneva (2-3, 5-5), which has lost three in a row.
