Yellow Jackets get sweep at Westminster

Junior guard Casey Keesee scored a career-high 23 points as Waynesburg evened its record in Presidents’ Athletic Conference play with a 72-60 road win over Westminster at Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.
Waynesburg improved to 3-3 in the conference and 4-6 overall. Westminster slipped to 0-5, 2-7.
Keesee scored 13 of his points in the first half, when Waynesburg built a commanding 35-21 lead.
P.J. Siggs added 18 points for Waynesburg and Rayshod Hooper grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
Westminster closed to within two points three times during the second half, the last at 50-48, but Waynesburg then went on a 10-0 run with Hooper scoring four points during the spurt.
Jaxson Hendershott paced Westminster’s attack with 20 points.

Waynesburg 53, Westminster 44
Waynesburg picked up its first PAC win of the season by pulling away in the second half and defeating host Westminster, 53-44.
Waynesburg (1-5, 5-5), which snapped a five-game losing streak, trailed 13-7 after one quarter but pulled into a 20-20 tie at halftime. The Yellow Jackets outscored Westminster (1-4, 1-7) by a 17-10 margin in the pivotal third quarter to forge a 37-30 lead. Waynesburg had a 17-1 run during the second half.
Kalista Friday came off the bench to lead Waynesburg with a game-high 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting. Julz Mohrbacher was the only other player in double figures for the Yellow Jackets. She scored 12 and grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds.
Westminster was led by Angelina Brush’s 12 points. Emily Hess had a game-high 15 rebounds. The Titans shot only 30 percent.
