Four chosen for W&J Athletic Hall of Fame
The Washington & Jefferson College Athletic Hall of Fame selection committee has chosen four members for the 2024 induction class. The group will be inducted Friday, Sept. 6 at the Rossin Ballroom.
The 2024 hall of fame class is highlighted by Alex Baroffio, Class of 2014 (football), Maggie Gibson, 2010 (women’s basketball), Emily Hays 2009 (women’s basketball), and Michael Revak 1998 (men’s golf). This quartet is the 25th class to be selected for induction into the W&J Athletic Hall of Fame.
“We look forward to celebrating and welcoming our 25th hall of fame class into this prestigious club which annually honors the best athletes in W&J history,” said W&J athletic director Scott McGuinness. “This class represents conference players of the year, All-Americans, and captains who led their teams to conference and regional championships.”
Baroffio was honored as an NCAA Division III All-American by the American Football Coaches Association and D3football.com following a remarkable 2013 season as a wide receiver. He totaled 91 receptions for 1,051 yards and 11 touchdowns, including a 12-catch, 131-yard, three-touchdown performance at Mount Union in the first round of the NCAA playoffs. Baroffio established the W&J career reception (269 – now second) and receiving yards (3,203 – now second) records during his standout career. He is fourth in W&J history with 30 receiving touchdowns and he was a three-time First Team All-PAC selection. He led W&J to PAC football titles in 2012 and 2013.
Gibson remains the most prolific rebounder in W&J women’s basketball history, gathering 1,125 during a career in which her teams posted a 90-26 record. Gibson helped the Presidents qualify for a pair of NCAA Division III Tournaments (2009, 2010) and her teams won at least 20 games during all four seasons. The 2008-09 squad set a then-school record with 24 victories. Gibson is the only W&J women’s basketball player to score more than 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds. Gibson ranks 13th for W&J women’s basketball with 1,166 career points. She also produced 195 career assists, 117 steals, and 82 blocked shots. She played in 116 career games, the second-most in school history.
Hays, a teammate of Gibson’s for three years, is one of nine players in W&J women’s basketball history to be selected as a PAC Player of the Year, earning the accolade for the 2008-09 season. She ranks 14th all-time with 1,147 points and helped her teams play in two NCAA Tournaments and a pair of ECAC Tournaments. The 2007-08 Presidents won the ECAC South Region Championship after a 23-7. A three-time All-PAC selection, Hays is currently an assistant coach at Eastern Michigan University after successful head coaching stints at Division III Hiram and Dickinson.
Revak is one of the top golfers in W&J history. Revak was honored as the PAC Player of the Year four times and helped W&J win four consecutive conference team championships. He was the first golfer in PAC history to win four-straight conference titles. In 1997, Revak was honored as a Golf Coaches Association of America Scholar-Athlete. He averaged 79.3 strokes per round during his senior year. Revak was the only PAC male golfer to win back-to-back conference medalist awards from 1998-2023. During his senior year, Revak carded a 36-hole total of 152 (77-75) to complete his PAC four-peat.
