Vulcans take care of Glenville State
California was clicking on all cylinders in defeating Glenville State, 84-71, Saturday afternoon at the Charleston (W.Va.) Tip-Off Challenge.
The No. 6 Vulcans improved to 2-0 after needing double overtime to win their season opener Friday night.
California’s Danny Whitehead Jr. led all scorers with 26 points on eight field goals, including six from behind-the-arc, and four three throws. The Vulcans shot 19 for 21 at the line. Teammate Keith Palek III was also in double figures with 14 points on six field goals (two 3-pointers).
Bryson Lucas (12 points) and Kadyn Hannah (11) were also in double digits.
California’s defense held Glenville State to 24 points in the first half, as the Vulcans led by 17.
California makes the quick trip to Fayette County on Wednesday in non-conference play at Penn State Fayette. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
