Undefeated Vulcans roll to 5th victory

CALIFORNIA – Cam Polak and Keith Palek each scored 15 points as California remained undefeated early in the college basketball season with an 84-52 thumping of cold-shooting Lincoln at the Convocation Center on Tuesday night.
The win makes Cal 5-0. Lincoln falls to 1-3.
The Vulcans took control of the game in the first half while Lincoln made only three of its first 25 shots. Cal forged a 19-7 lead with 6½ minutes left in the first half.
Cal led 39-21 at halftime, after the Vulcans’ Kaden Hannah made a three-pointer with one second remaining in the half. Cal made 11 three-point field goals in the game and had 10 players in the scoring column, including four in double figures.,
Polak scored 12 of his 15 points in the first half and Palek, the current PSAC West Player of the Week, dropped in nine in the opening 20 minutes.
Hannah finished with a career-high 13 points, and Donald Whitehead had 13 points and five assists.
Cal hammered Lincoln on the boards, outrebounding the Lions by a 59-40 margin, including 33-20 in the first half. Hannah had a game-high 11 rebounds.
Lincoln shot only 24 percent in the first half and 29 percent for the game.
Reggie Hudson led the Lions with 13 points and Ahmir Moore had 10.
Lincoln is coached by Julius Hodge, a former ACC Player of the Year at North Carolina State and first-round draft pick of the Denver Nuggets.
Cal plays PSAC games on consecutive nights this weekend, beginning Friday at Millersville. The Vulcans will be at Shepherd on Saturday.
