W&J cruises past Bethany
Jacob Pugh threw four touchdown passes and ran for one in Washington & Jefferson’s 48-7 victory over Bethany on Saturday in Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) play at Cameron Stadium.
Pugh was 11 of 13 for 263 yards, as the Presidents improved 7-1 in PAC and overall play.
Pugh threw touchdown passes to John Peduzzi (66 yards), Anthony Rosati (10 yards) and Jacob Macosko (44 yards) for a 21-0 lead in the first quarter before running for a one-yard score in the second period for a 28-0 advantage.
Macosko caught his second touchdown pass, a 53-yarder from Pugh, with 1:51 left before halftime. Macosko pulled in seven receptions for 172 yards and Peduzzi caught two passees for 73 yards.
Owen Petrisek’s six-yard run in the third and Andrew Sharp crossed the goal line from one yard out with 11:01 remaining in the fourth quarter. Petrisek, a Bentworth graduate, rushed for a game-high 89 yards on 10 carries.
The Bison (0-7 0-7) got on the scoreboard with 4:42 left when Brett Phillips connected with Todd Ary for a six-yard touchdown pass.
