Case Western too much for Waynesburg

Case Western’s offense took off in the second quarter of Saturday afternoon’s season and Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) opener with four touchdowns en route to a 41-7 victory over Waynesburg University at John F. Wiley Stadium.

Following a scoreless first quarter, Alex Fromberg got Case Western into the end zone on a one-yard run at 14:08 of the second. The conversion failed and Case Western had a 6-0 lead.

Fromberg threw touchdown passes of 12 and 9 yards to Sean-Michael James and Noah Coyne before Aaron Filips’ scored on a two-yard run for a 27-0 halftime advantage. Gabriel Petrozzi connected on three of his five PATs in the first half.

Jack Bryer caught a seven-yard touchdown pass from Jake Kavcic with 8:50 left in the third and Stefan Lopez’s three-yard run at 11:15 of the fourth capped the scoring for Case Western.

Dagyn Williams pulled in a 79-yard touchdown reception from Thomas Burke III with 10:31 left in the game to avoid the shutout. Drew Pinkerton made the extra point.

Fromberg rushed for 48 yards on six carries and threw for 269 yards after completing 24 of 29 passes.
