College baseball: Alvarez hits 4 home runs in W&J’s sweep
Luke Alvarez continued his torrid hitting Wednesday, going 6-for-8 with four home runs and nine RBI in Washington & Jefferson’s sweep of Franciscan 12-0 and 10-3 in a Presidents Athletic Conference doubleheader at Ross Memorial Park.
In his last three games, Alvarez is 9-for-11 with 10 runs, six home runs, 13 RBI and 29 total bases.
In the opener, Nate Nolan threw a three-hut shutout and had plenty of offensive support. Zac Stern and Seth Rosenfeld also homered for the Presidents and Josh Dezenzo hit two doubles.
Alvarez had six RBI in the second game and Jack Anderson hit a home run. Tommy Dietrich had a double and triple to back winning pitcher Bobby Budaki.
W&J leads the PAC with a 15-3 conference record. The Presidents are 26-7 overall.
In another PAC doubleheader, Chatham defeated Waynesburg 8-5 and 17-2.
