McGuffey won its third straight match by shutout in a 3-0 victory over Steel Valley Tuesday night at McGuffey to open Class 2A Section 3 boys soccer play.

The Highlanders (1-0, 3-0) took a 1-0 lead in the first half on Larry Goodman’s goal before Nate Kler and Jeremiah Butterfield had tallies in the second.

Sam Stout only needed to make two saves.

* Jack Brodak and Izaiah Wilson each scored two goals as Ringgold won 8-0 at Albert Gallatin Class 3A Section 2. Nick Evans had one goal and two assists.

* Parker Amos had one goal and two assists, powering Beth-Center to a 3-0 victory over Preston County (W.Va.).

The Bulldogs (1-0) led 2-0 at halftime.

Nekoda Bundy and Evan Lowman each had a goal. Goalkeeper Luke Amon made five saves.

* Alex Parise and Jeven Kelly scored goals as Peters Township won 2-0 at Norwin.

* Brady Anderson scored two goals in the first half as Trinity blanked McKeesport, 7-0, on Class 3A Section 2 play at McKeesport.

The Hillers (1-0-0, 1-1-0) had a 4-0 halftime lead on Anderson’s tallies and one apiece from Braeden Knight and John Garcia.

Cooper Cincinnati, Talan Gardner and Jace Jordan scored in the second half. Cincinnati had two assists.

Keeper Ryan Torboli recorded the shutout and added an assist.

* Zayden Herb scored four goals and assisted on another as Neshannock defeated visiting Chartiers-Houston, 7-0.

* Bentworth scored twice in the second half and defeated Trinity Christian 3-1 Monday night.

Adam Moessner, Ryan Moessner and Andrew Vipperman scored the goals for the Bearcats. Ryan Moessner had a pair of assists and Gaige Davenport added one helper.

Girls soccer

Paige Malley scored two goals and Taylor McCullough finished off the scoring as Peters Township won at Penn-Trafford 3-0 Monday night in non-section play.

Molly Kubistek and Kaitlyn Strine combined in the net for the shutout.
