High school basketball: Good things come in 3s for Trinity
The undefeated Trinity High School girls basketball team had a sensational night from beyond the arc Thursday, connecting on 13 3-point field goals in a 63-25 nonsection win over Serra Catholic at the South Park Tournament.
Gabby Reig sank six 3-pointers and finished with a team-best 20 points for Trinity (2-0). Sutton Williamson contributed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Hillers led 42-8 at halftime after scoring 21 points in both the first and second quarters.
Bella Dumbroski led the Eagles (0-2) with 16 points.
Ringgold 47, South Allegheny 9
Ringgold shut out South Allegheny in the first and third quarters and held the Gladiators to single-digits in each quarter in a 47-9 nonsection win. Alayna Macioce had a game-high 15 points for the Rams (1-0) and Addison Jenkins scored 10.
Jaz Farnan scored six points for South Allegheny (0-3).
Sto-Rox 42, Burgettstown 36
Sto-Rox edged Burgettstown 42-36 in a nonsection played on the Blue Devils’ home court.
No game details were available at press time.
StoRox improved to 3-1 while Burgettstown slipped to 1-3.
Boys results
Bentworth 52, Charleroi 50
Ben Hays poured in 34 points to help Bentworth (1-1) slip past Charleroi (1-2) in nonsection action.
The Bearcats outscored Charleroi, 20-8, in the third quarter to take command. Hays scored 20 of his points in the second half.
Jackson Keranko led Charleroi with 14 points. Shea Smith tossed in 11.
