High school basketball: Fort Cherry, C-H girls win tournaments
Olivia Kemp and Gianna Bianchini combined for 22 points, leading Fort Cherry’s girls basketball team to a 47-42 victory Saturday in the championship game of the Rangers’ tip-off tournament.
Kemp scored 12 points and Bianchini had 10 for Fort Cherry, which used a balanced scoring attack.
The Rangers led 17-12 at halftime but Beaver pulled into a 28-28 tie after three quarters. Fort Cherry won the pivotal fourth quarter by a 19-14 margin.
Chartiers-Houston 55, Chartiers-Houston 34
Chartiers-Houston took control of the game in the second quarter and ran away with a 55-34 victory over host Brownsville in the championship game of Falcon Fest.
After outscoring Brownsville, 27-5, in the second period, Chartiers-Houston had a 33-17 halftime advantage. The Bucs extended their lead to 51-19 heading into the fourth, which the Falcons won, 15-5.
Ava Capozzoli led Chartiers-Houston and the game in scoring with 14 points. Allison Wingard (13) and Ella Richey (11) were also in double digits for the undefeated Bucs (4-0).
Ava Clark had 12 points and Skyler Gates put in 11 for Brownwsville (1-1).
Trinity 58, Penn Hills 34
Trinity put three players in double figures and the undefeated Hillers cruised to a 58-34 win over Penn Hills.
Kimari Behrens had a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead Trinity (3-0), which led 46-16 at halftime. Sutton Williamson and Bentley Layhue each contributed 11 points.
Miria Oliver scored a game-high 23 points for Penn Hills (0-2).
Ringgold 29, Mount Pleasant 27
Ringgold rallied from a six-point deficit after three quarters to top Mount Pleasant 29-27 in the Greensburg Salem tournament.
Mount Pleasant (0-3) had a 24-18 lead heading into the fourth before the Rams (2-1) outscored the Vikings, 11-3, in the period.
Ringgold’s Jada Gernot had a game-high 12 points.
Both teams are in the same section, but tournament play does not recognize the game as a league matchup.
Uniontown 45, Bentworth 29
Uniontown won each quarter in defeating Bentworth 45-29 in the consolation game of the Brownsville tournament.
Uniontown (1-2) was led in scoring by Tessa Nicholson, who had a game-high 12 points. Emily Myers had 10.
Brielle Dillon scored nine points to pace Bentworth (1-2).

Peters Township 74, Shaler 44
Dylan Donovan poured in a game-high 29 points as Peters Township rolled over Shaler 77-44 at AHN Arena.
Donovan made five three-point field goals in helping the Indians improve to 3-0.
Fort Cherry 52, Jefferson-Morgan 45
Fort Cherry forged an 11-point halftime lead and cruised to a 52-45 victory over Jefferson-Morgan in the consolation game of the Rangers’ tournament.
Shane Cornali tossed in a game-high 17 points to pace the Rangers’ attack. Jack Kitzmiller hit double figures with 10 points.
Houston Guesman and John Woodward each had 10 points for Jefferson-Morgan (1-2).
