Trinity welcomes newest Hall of Fame class

The Trinity Area Sports Hall of Fame recently inducted its 2024 class, which includes seven individuals and one team.
The following is the list of the inductees and a brief bio of each:
Kaitlyn Falleroni Tronetti
A four-year starter for the softball team, Falleroni Tronetti played in every Trinity game for a four-year stretch and helped the Hillers to the playoffs in each of those seasons, in 2005 advancing to the WPIAL semifinals and the quarterfinals in 2006 and 2007. Known for her power hitting, Falleroni Tronetti once hit two home runs in a single game. She graduated holding the school career records in batting average (.369), RBI (63), runs (73), doubles (26) and multiple other statistics.
Falleroni Tronetti went on to play softball at Washington & Jefferson and earned second team All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference honors as a sophomore before ending her career early to focus on her double major of art and elementary education. She was an assistant softball coach at Woodland Hills and Pine-Richland high schools.
Michael Ferrari
Inducted for his soccer and wrestling exploits, Ferrari was a two-year starter and four-year letterman in soccer, contributing to the Hillers’ 1983 PIAA championship team. As a senior, he was named All-WPIAL and finished his career with 90 points, ranking 11th in school history.
Wrestling, however, was where Ferrari shined brightest. He won section and WPIAL titles and qualified for the PIAA Championships in 1985 and 1986. He won his weight class at the California University Christmas Tournament during his junior and senior years, helping Trinity win the team title in 1985. During Ferrari’s senior season, Trinity won the section title with an 18-1 record in dual meets.
Ferrari wrestled for the Pennsylvania team in the Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic and was the team’s Outstanding Wrestler. He finished his high school career with a 79-7-1 record.
After graduation, Ferrari wrestled for the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he was a three-year starter. After graduating in 1991, Ferrari served as a Field Artillery officer, earning the Ranger Tab. Following his military service, Ferrari joined the FBI and has been a member of the Hostage Rescue Team for more than 25 years.
Kara Houston
A seven-time letterwinner for indoor and outdoor track, Houston was inducted for her soccer career at Trinity and at the collegiate level.
Houston started and lettered four years in soccer, leading the Hillers in scoring as a freshman, junior and senior. She was team MVP as a freshman and senior and team captain in her final season. She was named all-section as a junior.
At Wheeling Jesuit, Houston was a three-year starter on the pitch and one of the Cardinals’ most decorated players. As a junior, she led the WVIAC in goals and points, was first team all-conference and the Atlantic Region Player of the Year and a third team All-American. She was twice named the WVIAC Player of the Year and finished her career with 59 goals and 129 points, ranking third in school history.
Now a certified nutrition coach and CrossFit instructor, Houston recently placed in the top 10 for her age group in South Carolina CrossFit competitions.
Ron Knotts
Knotts was a standout running back in football and outfielder/pitcher for the baseball team.
In football, Knotts rushed for 927 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior in 1976. A year later, he ran for 1,188 yards and scored 13 touchdowns, leading Trinity to its best season in more than a decade. Knotts was a two-time all-conference selection and was a Big 33 nominee. He averaged 117.5 rushing yards per game during his career.
On the baseball diamond, Knotts led Trinity to a section championship and 17-1 record as a senior. In American Legion ball, Knotts threw a no-hitter and was MVP of the state tournament.
Knotts continued his baseball career at Southeastern Oklahoma State, where he was named all-district in the NAIA and set two school records, including 66 stolen bases in a season. He was drafted in the ninth round by the Pittsburgh Pirates and played minor-league ball for the Watertown Pirates before retiring.
Joey Koroly
A 2018 graduate, Koroly was inducted for his exploits in football and basketball.
In basketball, Koroly was a four-year starter and letterman, earning all-section honors three times. He helped the Hillers to multiple postseason appearances, including the 2018 team’s 21-win season and first-ever PIAA playoff victory.
On the football field, Koroly was a four-year letterman and three-year starter. He holds Trinity’s records for career rushing yards (4,438), touchdowns (57) and points (342). He set multiple single-game and season records, including 358 rushing yards and six touchdowns in a game. A three-time all-conference pick, Koroly was the 2017 conference Offensive Player of the Year and graduated as the 21st-leading rusher in WPIAL history. Koroly’s 1,000 points in basketball and 4,000 yards in football put him in elite company in the WPIAL.
Koroly went on to play football at Washington & Jefferson where he earned an accounting degree.
George Walz
Walz, class of 1973, was honored for his decades of dedication to Trinity sports as an athlete, coach and event worker. Walz played football for four years, lettering twice and starting at guard on the 1972 team.
After graduating from Grove City College, Walz began coaching girls softball in the TWIST program. For 20 years, he coached many girls who went on to play varsity softball for Trinity.
His involvement in varsity sports began when he became a clock operator for the Powerade Wrestling Tournament. He worked the event for more than 30 years. In 1997, Walz began coaching football and served as a varsity assistant from 1999 to 2014. He also became the clock operator for Hillers basketball, a position he still holds. He also served as a ninth-grade baseball coach for nine years and the eighth-grade coach in 2021.
In addition to coaching, Walz has served as scorekeeper, videographer and scout. Walz retired from Trinity as a computer technician in 2022.
Anson Zacour
A member of the class of 1993, Zacour was inducted for his baseball career, which was cut short by injury.
Zacour won the John Voytek Award during the Pony League World Series as Washington’s leading hitter. Zacour worked his way into Trinity’s starting lineup on the varsity team as a sophomore. He was named all-section three times and led the Hillers in home runs, RBI and went 28-for-28 in stolen bases and struck out only two times as a senior.
After high school, Zacour attended St. Leo University in Florida and batted .317 as a freshman before transferring to Akron. An eye injury, however, ended his playing career. He coached at Trinity and Chartiers-Houston.
Zacour dedicated 25 years to Washington County’s Probation and Parole Department, retiring in 2024. He was inducted into the Washington-Greene County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2009.
2008 Baseball Team
The 2008 Trinity team, under head coach Levi Bristor, advanced deeper into the postseason than any other in Trinity baseball history. Although it did not win a section championship, Trinity finished as WPIAL runner-up and placed third in the PIAA playoffs. The Hillers beat West Mifflin, a section champion, in the first round of the WPIAL playoffs and followed that with wins over Chartiers Valley (7-2), Hampton (2-0) and Moon (1-0).
Despite losing to West Allegheny in the WPIAL finals, the Hillers advanced to the state tournament and defeated Punxsutawney (1-0) and Hickory (15-6) before falling to Somerset in a 1-0 game.
Several players, including pitchers Tyler Schrader and Alex Frey, outfielder Alex Kamierczek and Joey Havrilak, infielders Sam McKnight and Preston Linck and catcher Evan Bukowski earned all-section honors. Frey played in the East-West All-Star game.
