High school softball: Waynesburg drops 2 on southern trip
Waynesburg dropped a pair of games In Pigeon Creek, Tenn. The Raiders were edged by Mogadore (Ohio), 6-5, and lost to Xaverian (N.Y.), 9-1.
Waynesburg outhit Mogadore 12-8 but couldn’t overcome a 6-3 deficit. The Raiders scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning but left two runners on base.
Gina Tedrow went 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBI for Waynesburg. Ellie Makel had a triple.
The Raiders were held to five hits, including a Tedrow double, by Xaverian.
Mapletown 15, California 5: Mapletown scored in every inning except the fifth and defeated California 15-5 in Class A Section 2.
Carmichaels 5, Hollins 0: Bailey Barnyak scattered two hits as Carmichaels pieced together three hits and five walks for a 5-0 win over Hollins (Fla.) Tuesday night.
Carmichaels scored one run in the top of the third, fourth and fifth innings, and added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning. Ali Jacobs drove in two runs and Megan Voithofer finished with one RBI.
Barnyak struck out 15, but walked seven.
