Peters Township’s Kubistek makes history in winning Moe Rosensteel award
Peters Township junior keeper and University of Cincinnati recruit Molly Kubistek allowed a total of 11 goals over 21 matches this season, as the Indians won their first WPIAL title in girls soccer since 2012.
Kubistek made history Monday when it was announced she was the recipient of the annual Moe Rosensteel Most Outstanding Player Award, which has been given to the top girls soccer player in the WPIAL since 2019.
Kubistek is the first keeper to win the award, which is named for the late Katelyn “Moe” Rosensteel, a former Ringgold standout who died tragically on June 13, 2019, after being struck by lightning. Rosensteel was 18-years-old.
Kubistek had 14 clean sheets this season, and didn’t allow a goal in seven straight matches.
The other finalists for the award were Mt. Pleasant’s Morgan Gesinski, Fox Chapel’s Emily McKee and Latrobe’s Robin Reilly.
Kubistek is the first Washington County athlete to win the award.
