Qualk scores 4 TDs in California win
CALIFORNIA – Lee Qualk ran for four touchdowns, Vinnie Manzella returned a deflected punt for a score and California rolled to a 44-8 victory over visiting Carmichaels in a Class A Tri-County South Conference game Friday night.
California (4-0, 5-2) scored touchdowns on its first two possessions for a 14-0 lead less than five minutes into the game. Malachi Peak had a 23-yard touchdown run and Qualk added a 12-yard score.
The Trojans made it 17-0 in the second quarter when Christian Ross booted a 27-yard field goal.
California then deflected a punt by Carmichaels (1-3, 2-3) and Mansell grabbed it at the Mikes’ 36-yard line and rambled down the sideline for a touchdown. Qulak scored his second TD on a one-yard run with 1:10 left in the first half that made it 31-0.
Qualk added TD runs of seven and 39 yards in the second half.
Carmichaels scored when Carson Hillaman ran 69 yards to the end zone with 5:44 remaining in the game.
