Wash High stops KO’s conversions, wins, 26-25
DORMONT – Tristan Reed ran for one score and threw a 91-yard scoring pass to Caleb Patton, and Washington’s defense stopped a pair of two-point conversion runs in the second half to hold on for a 26-25 victory over Keystone Oaks in the Class 2A Century Conference on Friday night.
Washington (2-1, 4-3) forged a 14-7 lead in the first quarter and then stayed in front the rest of the way.
Freshman Balsie Naraskivitch opened the scoring with a 50-yard TD run for the Prexies but KO’s Billy Bricker tied it with a 64-yard scoring jaunt. Wash High went ahead for good on a one-yard plunge by Reed.
Patton’s 91-yard reception gave Wash High a 20-13 lead in the third quarter.
After K0 closed to within one point on the second of Charles Quarles’ three TD runs, Trenton Groomes put Wash High up 26-19 with a a four-yard run in the fourth quarter. Grromes rushed for 114 yards on 26 carries.
Quarles scored on a 15-yard run with less than three minutes to play, but Wash High stopped the conversion run to maintain a one-point lead.
