Girls soccer: C-H, Bentworth on collision course
Chartiers-Houston set up a match for first place in Class A Section 2 with a 6-2 win over California on Monday.
Ava Capozzoli led the Bucs (7-2, 9-3) with three goals. Cecilia Hess, Nanna Bimpong and Hailey Seige had one goal each for C-H, which will p[lay at first-place Bentworth on Wednesday.
Leigh Hartley scored two goals for California (3-4-1, 4-6-1).
* Bentworth took an early lead and downed Beth-Center, 4-2, on Monday night in Class A Section 2.
The Bearcats (7-1-0, 13-1-0) can clinch the section championship with a victory over Chartiers-Houston on Wednesday at Bentworth. The Bucs handed the Bearcats their only loss, 1-0, on Sept. 18.
Megan Keturakis scored twice, and Bella Moyer and Brielle Dillon also found the back of the net.
* Keystone Oaks scored two goals in the second half to beat Belle Vernon 2-1 in Class 2A Section 1.
KO (8-3, 10-6) had one goal set up by a corner kick and the other tally came off a penalty kick.
Ava Scalisle scored in the first half off a corner kick taken by Grace West.
Belle Vernon is 7-4 in section and 8-8 overall.
* Malia Burt celebrated senior night in scoring two goals to lead McGuffey to a 3-1 victory over Steel Valley in Class 2A Section 1.
The Highlanders (5-4-1, 7-4-1) clinched the fourth and final playoff spot with Ringgold losing to South Park.
Maddie Crowe also found the back of the net for McGuffey.
The Highlanders had a 2-0 lead before Steel Valley cut the deficit to one. McGuffey added an insurance tally.
* South Fayette edged host Thomas Jefferson, 1-0, in Class 3A Section 3.
The Lions’ Mia Deramo scored the lone goal with Gabby Beinecke assisting.
South Fayette improved to 8-0-0 in the section and 11-3-0 overall.
