Wash High pull away in 2nd half to beat Charleroi
Tristan Reed ran for three touchdowns, Trenton Grooms rushed for 129 yards and Caleb Patton returned an interception for a score as Washington rolled to a 41-6 victory over Charleroi in a Class 2A Century Conference game Friday night at Wash High Stadium.
Washington (4-1, 5-3) scored touchdowns on runs by Reed on its first two possessions for a 14-0 lead, then pulled away in the second half, when the Prexies scored four times.
Reed opened the scoring with a one-yard plunge and capped a 78-yard drive early in the second quarter when he ran eight eight yards to the end zone to make it 14-0.
Patton then intercepted a Charleroi pass and returned it 38 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter, widening the Prexies’ lead to 20-0.
Charleroi (1-3, 1-7) scored its only points in the third quarter, when Jackson Keranko threw a 23-yard TD pass to Noah Pletcher.
