Cornali does little of everything in Fort Cherry win
McDONALD – Fort Cherry just keeps on rolling.
Shane Cornali caught a touchdown pass, ran for a score and returned a punt 55 yards to the end zone, sparking undefeated Fort Cherry to a 42-0 rout of Shenango in a non-conference game Friday night at Jim Garry Stadium.
Fort Cherry (9-0) led 28-0 in the first quarter and 35-0 at halftime.
Cornali opened the scoring on the receiving end of a 43-yard touchdown pass from Matt Sieg. After Ryan Huey ran three yards for a Rangers touchdown, Sieg tossed a 59-yard scoring pass to Nick Massey to make it 21-0.
Sieg completed seven of nine passes for 148 yards and two scores.
Cornali had a five-yard TD run before the opening quarter ended. In the second, Cornali’s punt return gave Fort Cherry a 35-0 lead.
The only scoring of the second half was a 28-yard touchdown pass from Josh Silveira to Landon Trnavsky.
The Rangers’ Nate Heirendt rushed for 108 yards on 17 carries.
Tyler Wolfe led the Fort Cherry defense with 12 tackles. Shawn Robertson had a fumble recovery.
Shenango’s record fell to 1-6.
