Carmichaels wins game, loses tiebreaker
MAPLETOWN – Carmichaels scored 30 points in the first quarter and routed host Mapletown 52-6 in a Class A Tri-County South Conference game.
Carmichaels (4-3, 5-3) finishes in a tie for third place in the conference, with Bentworth and West Greene, but does not gain an automatic postseason qualifying berth, losing on tiebreaker points to Bentworth. The Mikes, based on a win over West Greene, are considered the fourth-place finisher in the conference and will be considered as a Class A wild-card playoff team by the WPIAL football committee.
Mapletown (0-7, 1-9) lost its ninth in a row.
Will Murray rushed for 208 yards and four touchdowns, and cauight a 10-yard TD pass, to lead the Carmichaels attack. He had TD runs of two, two, 54 and 77 yards.
The Mikes’ Carson hillsman opened the scoring with a 24-yard run. Dayton Reynolds had a 45-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
