Bentworth rallies past Carmichaels
ELLSWORTH – Carmichaels scored the first 15 points before Bentworth added 33 unanswered in a 33-15 triumph on Friday night in Class A Tri-County South Conference action Friday night.
Will Murray’s seven-yard run and Cannon Bupka’s 77-yard put the Mikes up 15-0 after Murray’s two-point conversion.
Preston Jaquay’s 60-yard kickoff return for a touchdown cut the Bearcats’ deficit to 15-6 with 1:26 left in the first quarter.
Ben Hays’ 76-yard run and Jaquay’s three-yarder provided Bentworth (2-1, 4-2) with a 19-15 halftime lead.
Hays scored on runs of 48 and 56 yards in the third quarter to put the game away. Caden Hackinson made three extra points.
Hays rushed for 253 yards on 15 carries. The Bearcats gained 312 yards on the ground.
Bupka rushed for 126 yards on 19 carries, as the Mikes fell to 1-2 in conference play and 2-2 overall.
