This time, overtime doesn’t pay for C-M
CANONSBURG – Aidan Stinebiser caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Dominic Detruf in overtime, giving Hempfield a 33-27 win over Canon-McMillan in the Class 6A Quad County Conference on Friday night.
Hempfield (1-2, 2-4) had forced OT when Jack Kopas recovered a fumble in the end zone with 47 seconds left in regulation.
Quarterback Ty Jansma ran for one score and passed for another for Canon-McMillan (1-1, 2-4). Zach Barzd booted field goals of 38 and 41 yards and Mason Calgaro had a scoring run.
Stinebiser rushed for 126 yards on 25 carries.
Jansma completed nine of 21 passes for 159 yards. Hempfield’s Reddik Katchur intercepted a pass and returned it 54 yards for a touchdown that opened the scoring in the first quarter.
C-M’s Ethan Campoli caught four passes for 128 yards.
It was the second overtime game in as many weeks for the Big Macs, who won at Mt. Lebanon last week.
